ABOUT THE MISSOURI ORTHOPAEDIC INSTITUTE

The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute is central Missouri’s largest freestanding orthopaedic center, as well as the region’s most comprehensive orthopaedic surgery center. The Institute’s expert orthopaedic surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation staff and other health professionals offer patients a full range of care in a single location. The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute’s orthopaedics program has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report as a high-performing specialty in 2015-2016.  

To meet growing patient needs, University of Missouri Health Care began construction in June 2015 on a $40 million, four-story expansion of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute. The expansion, which should be complete by 2017, will increase clinical space from approximately 114,000 to almost 200,000 square feet for surgical, inpatient, outpatient and physical therapy services. The fourth floor of the new addition will be dedicated entirely to research. 

The building currently houses approximately 400 staff members and more than 30 physicians who specialize in sports medicine, pediatrics, orthopaedic oncology, general orthopaedics, hip and knee, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, spine and trauma care. The institute provides space for inpatient surgeries, outpatient procedures and various University of Missouri Health Care orthopaedic clinics.
