Bhavdeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Fortis Healthcare,  joined the healthcare major in February of 2009. Mr. Singh has a vast and rich background covering two plus decades of professional experience in the retail and healthcare sectors. While he was in the United States for most of his career, Bhavdeep has now been in India for the last four plus years.

Mr. Singh, who is a US citizen, was born in India but moved to the United States when he was in elementary school and then spent the next 30 plus years there.  While he and his family spent most of their time in the NY/NJ area, they also had the opportunity to live in Michigan and Maryland.  During his professional career in US, Bhavdeep was associated with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), a leading retail chain in the United States, He was with A&P for over 20 years and held various senior leadership positions covering crucial aspects of the business. His key areas of responsibility included Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain/Logistics, HR, Labor Relations, Asset Protection, Productivity and other support functions.  In his last role, he was the Business Head/President of a $3.5 billion business with 170 stores and 20,000 employees.

Bhavdeep has now been in India for 4 ½ years and is settled in Gurgaon, a city that is about 30 minutes from New Delhi.  On his return to India in 2006, Bhavdeep Singh had a brief stint with Spencer’s Retail as the Chief Executive – Operations and Food Merchandising.  Post that, when presented with an opportunity to drive scale and growth, he moved to Reliance Fresh as the CEO where he led a massive expansion  strategy that saw the organization open 700 plus stores in less than two years.   Building a business from ground up was a great experience for Bhavdeep and he came away with many new learnings that he carries with him today.  When he left Reliance in January of 2009, he was responsible for the largest retail business in India with over 900 stores in operation.

Bhavdeep has now been with Fortis Healthcare for 1.5 years and is leading the growth of the organization in a very significant manner.  Fortis is Asia’s fasted growing health care provider and operates 60 plus hospitals and 10,000 beds.  Mr. Singh is passionate about the business and believes that results and performance are a function of great employees and great customer (patient) service.
