Peter Syrett’s vision for and experience in sustainability and living buildings have made him one of the firm’s internal champions for green architecture and construction. Peter leads the sustainability efforts of the New York office. He leads teams in viewing the larger ecological picture, one that looks beyond LEED, overseeing projects from brainstorm to detail. In fact, Peter led the effort in 2009 to develop the Precautionary List, the architectural industry’s first major list of substances to avoid using in building design. Peter also leads Perkins+Will’s Sustainable Advisory Services in the northeast region, helping clients to strategize investments and returns to achieve a more sustainable future. In 2010, Peter contributed to the Asthma Report for the National Institutes of Health. Peter’s philosophy on design is the creation of a unique conceptual vocabulary that embodies a client’s mission in space, material, form, and character. He lectures regularlyon green institutional design and is a recognized expert in the field.
