Ricardo Forbes was born in Grand Cayman on July 23, 1960 to parents Rose Marie Forbes, of Cuban dissent, and Thomas Forbes, from Honduras.

He attended Mrs. Gleda Forbes School. After it closed, Edmer Junior Academy was formed and he attended school there, until 1976, until he moved to West Indies College High School in Mandeville, Jamaica.

After graduating from high school, Forbes enrolled in West Indies College and earned his Associates Degree in Science, in 1980. He returned home after graduation and, shortly later, enrolled in Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, graduating with a Bachelor Degree of Business Administration.

In 1984 to 1986, he enrolled in Century University in Los Angeles, where he earned his Master of Business Administration, with a major in Financial Management.

Forbes served on the School Board of Cayman Academy, under the presidency of Mr. Jeffrey Thompson and recently served on the Parent Teachers Association for Cayman Academy.

In July of 1986, he entered the insurance industry as a Life Underwriter with British American. On January 1992, Forbes joined Cayman General as its Life Underwriter until 1996, at which time he opened Forbes Insurance Brokers Ltd. and managed that until January of 2005, until he sold the brokerage to Financial Integrated Services. After selling FIB, he remained in a transition period until May 2006. In September of 2006, Forbes joined Crusader International Management Ltd. until June of 2009.

In June of 2009, he obtained a Trade and Business license to Operate A.M.F. Partners which deals with Youth Development and Training; it makes and airs educational DVD’s on Cayman 27 and Island 24, which the Cayman Islands Government Ministries have been sponsoring along with other corporate sponsors. On numerous occasions, Forbes has spoken at the Eagle House Prison. He has also spoken and shown DVDs to the children at the Light House School.

On April 1, 2010, he accepted the position of Managing Director/President of International Captive Managers Limited. At ICML they assist with the formation of Captives and act as Insurance Managers.
