Tom Hamilton is a former Captain in the United States Marine Corps, successful entrepreneur, civic leader, and past contributor to several trade publications focused on Health Care and Medical Tourism.
Tom Hamilton works with a wide range of clients across virtually every industry to provide diversified and innovative health insurance solutions through Consumer Driven Healthcare programs. His expertise is in understanding the immediate and strategic needs of his client and formulating a plan that meets these needs. Since 2002, Mr. Hamilton has led Carolina Benefits Designs’ efforts to educate companies and individuals of the changes in legislation and insurer practices that positively and negatively impact them. Examples of corporate clients include, UPS, Allied Signal, Black and Decker, Engineered Sintered Components, and Contec. Tom has become a significant voice in healthcare reform, finding solutions to the enormous economic burden small to medium sized businesses are facing with rising health insurance costs.
Prior to forming Carolina Benefits Designs and Hamilton Edwards, Mr. Hamilton was the Regional VP in North and South Carolina for a Fortune 500 ProfessionalEmployer Organization (PEO), Gevity HR. His additional corporate experience includes management and sales positions with Conoco, Crown Central Petroleum, American Business Products, Corporate Staffing, and CoreStaff.
Education
Tom holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Personnel Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has completed multiple program courses involving management and leadership, along with health care and insurance accreditations.
In 2006, Tom attained his certification and became an expert in Consumer Driven Healthcare, educating businesses on FSAs, HRAs, and HSAs, along with seminars on health insurance innovation for Health Insurance Underwriters in the Carolinas.

Mr. Hamilton is active, and assumes leadership roles, with various civic and church organizations.
