The Medical Tourism Association has launched its Quality of Care Project which will change global healthcare. Currently patients, insurance companies and employers from around the world cannot compare or assess the quality of an international hospital because each hospital uses a different "methodology" in how they collect and report hospital statistics and quality indicators. This increases liability for any US Employers or Insurance companies offering Medical Tourism Programs.
The leading hospitals from around the world have agreed to work with the Medical Tourism Association to create a "single methodology" for reporting. This project will change Global Healthcare as we know it, and will allow for the first time ever: patients, employers and insurance companies from the US to be able to compare the quality of care of the top international hospitals. This project should help the growth of medical tourism and help US patients feel more comfortable and confident when going overseas for surgery. US Employers, Insurance Companies and healthcare companies are encouraged to participate and learn from this meeting which will take place September 9th.
QUALITY OF CARE PROJECT
September 9th, 2008 - San Francisco, CA
Who Should Attend:
CEOs, Medical Directors, Marketing Directors, Business Development Directors, Director of Healthcare, Chief Surgeons, Chief Medical Officers, Insurance Companies, TPA's, health insurance agents and employers.
Why was the quality of Care Project launched?
Currently, international insurance companies, employers and patients are not implementing medical tourism programs or comfortable sending patients overseas because each hospital creates their own methodology on how the collect and report quality indicators and hospital outcomes. This means international insurance companies, employers and patients can't compare international hospitals and that it is impossible to see which hospitals have the best care and best quality. US insurance companies and employers have said this is the main reason for not outsourcing healthcare. Also, hospitals with high quality are at a disadvantage because a competing hospital might show better outcomes (lesser infection rates), when if both hospitals used the same methodology it would be clear which hospital had better outcomes and better quality.

International Hospitals, Insurance Companies and Employers have requested our association launch the Quality of Care Project. Large US health insurance carriers will be participating in this project.
