Vasko Naumovski is Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia to the United States of America since November 2014. Naumovski is a Professor of International Relations at the Department of Law ‘Iustinianus Primus’ at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, where he did his bachelor, master’s and PhD degrees. He also holds a master’s degree from the University of Bonn, Germany. He is in the academia since 2005, being an author of several publications in the area of international relations, European integration and international law. He did a post-doctoral study visit on foreign policy at the University of Florida, USA.
In the period 2009-2011 he was Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, in charge of European affairs. During his mandate Macedonia received the first recommendation to begin the membership negotiations, following the progress done in all fields. The harmonization of the legislation, accreditation to manage the European pre-accession funds, as well as the realization of numerous reform projects marked this period, including one of the most important benefits – the visa liberalization for travelling in the EU.
In July 2014 the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov appointed Naumovski to be his special envoy in the talks regarding the difference over the name, conducted under the United Nations auspices.
Naumovski is married and has a daughter.
